Abstract
Dört element konusu hemen her coğrafyada ve kültürde ortaya çıkan mitolojilerde veya felsefi-düşünsel sistemlerde kendisine yer bulmuştur. Evrenin nasıl var olduğu ve evrenin yapıcı unsurunun ne olduğu sorusu her zaman insanların zihinlerini meşgul etmiştir. Özellikle Antik Yunan filozofları başta olmak üzere bu konu üzerinde tartışmalar yapılmış ve farklı görüşler ortaya atılmıştır. Evrenin ana maddesini ne olduğuna ilişkin ortaya atılan bu görüşlerde dört element ön plana çıkmıştır. Bu elementler su, hava, ateş ve topraktır. Bu dört element Türk mitolojisinde de ön plana çıkmış ve özgün bir biçimde tartışılmıştır. Bu çalışmada dört elementin (su, hava, ateş, toprak) Türk mitolojisinde ele alınma biçimi incelenmiştir. Çalışma bu yönüyle Türk mitolojisindeki dört element meselesinin temellerini açıklamayı ve diğer mitolojilerden farklarını ortaya çıkarmayı amaçlamaktadır. Çalışmada bu amaca uygun olarak nitel araştırma deseni benimsenmiştir. Nitel araştırma yönteminin altında konuyla ilgili kaynakların keşfedici yorumlama tekniği ile incelenmesi yapılmıştır.

Abstract
The subject of the four elements has found a place in mythologies or philosophical-intellectual systems that emerge in almost every geography and culture. The question of how the universe came into existence and what the constructive element of the universe is has always occupied people's minds. Discussions have been made on this issue, especially among Ancient Greek philosophers, and different opinions have been put forward. In these views about what constitutes the main substance of the universe, four elements come to the fore. These elements are water, air, fire and earth. These four elements also came to the fore in Turkish mythology and were discussed in an original way. In this study, the way the four elements (water, air, fire, earth) are handled in Turkish mythology is examined. In this respect, the study aims to explain the foundations of the four elements in Turkish mythology and to reveal its differences from other mythologies. In accordance with this purpose, a qualitative research design was adopted in the study. Under the qualitative research method, the sources related to the subject were examined with the exploratory interpretation technique.
